Are you guys arguing against the use of regex here really going to be so dense about it? It's a simple exercise to help teach regex. That's all it is. Why not use regex to solve the simple regex exercise?

Wouldn't it be enough just to write:
.Sum()

current parameter values are e.g.

nmax=83162, maxsm=1013

nmax has 5 digits
